Our Business Strategist for this monthwas the renowned advertising firm of Blackstone Edge Studios.  Donna and Phillip took turns in this fabulous presentation and laid out the many options you have in promoting your design business.  Their biggest claim to fame is their ability to get designers published.  They currently have 10 magazines on newstands now with their clients!

To promote yourself, NO designer should be without a website.  The basic website acts as your portfolio and is a must!  The spent some time on how important a Blog is to your online presence.  Blogs show constant change and will help get you found online.

The need for a consistent brand was again discussed as it was at our January meeting (are we hearing a theme here??).  Website – Blog – Facebook.  They all work together to promote your business.

Additionally, they mentioned several online portfolio sites where you can upload your best works for all to see.  The most notable is houzz  If you haven’t checked it out and created your online portfolio, it’s a fast, easy and FREE way to promote yourself.  Visit our website to see a more complete list of other online portfolios.

Lastly, Blackstone Edge is constantly presenting  design projects to national magazines for their consideration for publication.  Do you have a wonderful project you would like to see in the glossies??  Send them a note and attach a couple of your own pictures!  Blackstone Edge
